The service is owned by Kape Technologies. This is a point of friction for some. Kape used to be Crossrider, a company that specialized in ad-tech and browser extensions. They have spent the last several years buying up VPNs like ExpressVPN and Private Internet Access to pivot into the privacy sector. If you are a purist who cares about the origins of your software, this background matters. If you just want to bypass a regional block, it is likely irrelevant.

Trust and the Romanian shield

Romania is an excellent jurisdiction for a VPN. It is outside the major 14-Eyes intelligence-sharing agreements. The Romanian Constitutional Court has also historically struck down mandatory data retention laws. This provides a solid legal barrier for the company's no-logs policy.
